IT Steering Committee (ITSC)

The IT Steering Committee (ITSC) is charged by the Council to provide strategic direction and executive oversight for all shared information technology at The Claremont Colleges (TCC).  The mandate of the ITSC is to ensure that TCC IT Shared Services (TCC IT) and other providers of consortium-wide shared IT services deliver cost effective, reliable, secure, value-driven services that meet the needs of the colleges and The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) utilizing best practices in higher education IT.  To carry out this mandate, the ITSC will oversee information technology services provided by TCC IT, as well as all other IT services that want to be overseen by the ITSC.  The ITSC will also periodically review the inventory of other IT services provided through a lead college model, by a third party, or by individual colleges as part of the Council’s desire to provide the most efficient means of delivery of IT services throughout TCC.

The ITSC charges IT Operations Committees (ITOC) to ensure the technical delivery of services not only by TCC IT but also other providers such that they meet the needs of the Colleges. In addition, they provide the ITSC with relevant information needed to provide oversight of the ITOC’s service area(s). Finally, the ITOCs will provide the ITSC detailed information as to how services interface with each college.

The ITSC has responsibilities in five broad areas:

  1. Strategic Planning
  2. Budget and Funding
  3. Portfolio Management
  4. ITOC Management
  5. Performance Assessment
